Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing assesses the level of electromagnetic emissions generated by a device. Testing will determine a device’s potential for interfering with other devices nearby, as well as its potential to be interfered with by their electromagnetic emissions. Testing helps brands comply with the EU’s Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive, which requires brands to either self-certify, or use the services of an EU Notified Body who will apply a CE mark to the product once tests are complete.
Compliance with the EU’s EMC Directive is required for many electronic products that are imported, marketed, or sold in the EU. Products bearing the CE Mark are presumed compliant with the requirements of the electromagnetic compatibility directive as well as the requirements of other applicable regulations. Compliance ensures that your electronics brand can reach over 500 million consumers in the EU and European Economic Area.
